DurAbrasion - Versatile multi-station configurable Martindale

Overview

Based on our market-leading Martindale test instrument, DurAbrasion is a single instrument for wear and abrasion test applications relevant to multiple industry sectors, from apparel to automotive.

The DurAbrasion is specifically designed to facilitate testing bespoke to customer needs.This user-friendly instrument complies with many quality standards, which are pre-loaded in the TestWise Touch software for ease.

Pre-select from a range of attachments and accessories to customise the instrument to match your test requirements. Available in 2-station and 5-station models, DurAbrasion enables a wide range of tests to be performed on a diverse range of product types, in dry, damp and wet conditions.

An abrading table with a suite of accessories are combined to create a unique quality testing product, which operates using a Lissajous motion. Different tests can be performed simultaneously on DurAbrasion, for example a textile sample and a wood sample running at the same time.

It is also ideal for smaller labs across many different industries, educational institutions and in-house quality testing, particularly where there is no recognised test method for a product, perfect for research and development.

Types of testing

Example applications

Textiles testing: wet, damp and dry for wear, abrasion and pilling testing of textiles and nonwovens. Specific uses within this sector include garments, socks, upholstery, gloves, collars and cuffs, nonwoven products and coatings

Footwear testing: shoelaces, various shoe components

Straps, ropes and laces: all types of cord and belting, such as backpacks, luggage, belts, footwear, car seatbelts, climbing ropes, transportation straps

Thicker samples: carpets, leather, rubber, shoe components and vinyls

Lacquers and coatings: coated textiles, printing inks, papers and board, composites in aerospace and automotive applications, for example car dashboard and fascia materials

Scratch and micro scratch resistance: wood and laminates, such as in domestic and commercial furniture, laminate flooring, kitchen cabinets, work surfaces

Paints and coatings: on hard surfaces such as in automotive and white goods

Liquids, powders and sprays testing on fabric samples and other materials
